At the May 26th, 2022 AGM, SASHA celebrated the retirement of three Board members with a combined total of 24 years of dedicated service to SASHA: Johanna Buisman, Chris Guest and Janneke Vander Hoek.
Board member, LuAnne Sirdiak stated, “Today we recognize and showcase the significant contribution and demonstrated spirit of volunteerism made to our communities. These ladies have worked tirelessly from the grassroots meetings to the active organization SASHA is today. Each of them dedicated many, many hours of their personal time to improving end of life care in our communities.
Thank you seems inadequate to acknowledge the contributions of these amazing women. In addition to operating the organization, they each found their own niche where they contributed their strengths. Johanna (Buisman) & Chris (Guest) started the CCVP program and Janneke (Van Hoeke) started Hospice Teas and Connect Cafés. All programs continue and will continue to grow to expand services offered.
The commitment of these women is outstanding and they leave a beautiful legacy of their dedicated efforts and contributions to the citizens of St. Albert and Sturgeon County.”
LuAnne went on to wish each of them well in their future endeavours and expressed how grateful SASHA was that this was not ‘goodbye’. “We will honour the work you have done and continue with your legacy; you all leave ‘very big shoes to fill’.”
LuAnne closed with a quote by Margaret Mead: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
On behalf of the SASHA Board, our members and our clients and families we serve, we offer a huge sincere, heartfelt thank you to Johanna, Chris & Janneke.
