Heidi Evans

Executive Director

Heidi Evans has lived in St. Albert since 2013 with her husband and two teenagers. Supporting family members and friends, clients when working as a Health Care Aide, and then volunteering with SASHA have been rewarding and fulfilling. She continues to advocate compassionate patient centered care for others, especially when they can no longer advocate for themselves. Heidi commits to having open and natural discussions regarding life and death, not as an ending but as a transition, and hopes to ease the fear we carry during such a difficult time.

Heidi joined the SASHA staff as Program Coordinator from July 2023 to March 2024, became  Manager from April 2024 to March 2025, and was promoted to Executive Director in April 2025. Heidi is passionate about SASHA’s mission – supporting those with a life-limiting illness, their caregivers, and those grieving a loss. “St. Albert is an incredibly compassionate community. I feel blessed every day to work in a city that prioritizes supporting palliative care, and sees the strength in lifting each other up.”

Alisha Coyston

Program Coordinator

Alisha Coyston is the Program Coordinator at the St. Albert Sturgeon Hospice Association and has worked in the human services field for over a decade. With a strong foundation in person-centered care, she brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her role, having been a caregiver for a loved one. This experience deepened her understanding of the emotional and practical challenges that come with end-of-life care.

Alisha is deeply committed to supporting individuals and families through their palliative journey. She believes that being present—truly showing up—with compassion and dignity during life’s final chapter is one of the most meaningful ways we can support one another. In her work, she advocates not only for those receiving care but also for the caregivers, recognizing their essential role and the need for ongoing support and resources. She believes that how we care for people at the end of life is a reflection of our deepest values as a community.

OUR VOLUNTEERS:

We love our Volunteers!

Our volunteers are passionate in their belief that everyone should have the opportunity to live life to the fullest until the very end.  Whether they are a board member, a Compassionate Care Volunteer, a friendly visitor at Foyer Lacombe Hospice, help out at an event or participate to raise funds for SASHA, they all play an integral part in ensuring we are able to provide our services, resources and nice-to-haves to those who need it.
