LIGHTING THE WAY
Lighting the Way is an annual event which began in 2020. Each year, the number of lights surrounding Foyer Lacombe Hospice grows showcasing the support and compassion from our community.
Lighting the Way … denotes a path or journey – for those who are ill and their caregivers, for those who have had a loved one die, and for the community as a sign of support and compassion.
Lighting the Way is a fundraising event to benefit St. Albert Sturgeon Hospice Association (SASHA). SASHA is a remarkable organization that serves St. Albert and Sturgeon County families who are affected by or living with a life-limiting illness with the goal of living life to the fullest in the presence of illness.
Lighting the Way is an inspirational event ~ where donors buy “a Bulb” in care of, in memory of, or in community support of a person(s) or caregiver(s) impacted by a life-limiting illness or to support compassion and palliative care in the community in general.
The bulbs light the trees surrounding Foyer Lacombe Hospice, which sits atop Mission Hill near the St. Albert Parish. Community members, local businesses and organizations take the opportunity to buy individual bulb(s) or sponsor an entire tree within a grove of 11 trees on the east side of the Hospice.
The lights bring cheer during the festive season to the hospice residents, long term care residents, surrounding neighborhoods and the community at large with a view from St. Albert Trail.
Each year the campaign grows ~ with more lights added. Our future vision with this annual event is to light the entire grounds surrounding Foyer Lacombe Hospice for all to admire and enjoy.
