The steering committee quickly realized there was much to learn about end-of-life care. To tackle this large initiative, committees were formed, including medical, finance, communication, and research. SASHA asked questions such as: where space would be available, was an independent, self-managed facility the way to go, was there space in an existing facility, and were there health-care partners in the community who already have experience in this field?
