Perseverance

In February 2015, we were successful in our application to the Canada Revenue Agency allowing us to issue charitable donation receipts for any donations made to SASHA.

The spring election in 2015 brought in a new government – the New Democratic Party. Always persistent, emails of introduction for support were sent from SASHA to our new MLA’s, Marie Renaud and Trevor Horne, and resulted in a positive, supportive meeting with Marie Renaud in July 2015. An email for support was also sent to Health Minister Sarah Hoffman, again with a positive response.

Our primary objective, at the outset, was to work with local leaders in government and health care to create a residential hospice space in St. Albert. We are thankful that this objective was reached in January 2016, with the opening of ten hospice beds in Foyer Lacombe. (See the St. Albert Gazette, dated May 06, 2017, for an article on SASHA!)
