Community Opportunity Scan

In early summer 2012, the spiritual leaders of these churches joined forces in establishing the ‘Intersection Project’ in order to find ways to serve the community of St. Albert. Using the Community Opportunity Scan (COS), a process of discovery that highlights opportunities to create awareness of local issues, engage community partners, and begin new initiatives, members of their congregations were recruited to assist with this project.

Interviews were conducted with several key community leaders in St Albert including police officers, politicians, and representatives from City of St Albert Family and Support Services, the Food Bank and Seniors Centre. Several needs were identified and potential projects emerged, including the need for a hospice.
